Brenda Hwang

MA., CCC-SLP, CLC, CDP

Brenda is a board-certified Speech-Language Pathologist licensed in the State of Tennessee and Mississippi and certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). where she currently holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). She earned a Bachelor of Science in special education from the University of Georgia and a Master of Arts in speech language pathology from the University of Memphis. 
She went on in her post-graduate training to become a specialist in early intervention. Her medical and clinical experiences span from as young as neonates. In 2021, Brenda became a certified lactation counselor in order to better serve breastfeeding families in her practice. She utilizes her expertise in lactation policy and practices and is certified to provide Premature Infant Oral Motor Intervention (PIOMI). Brenda is currently a doctoral candidate and plans on continuing her post-graduate training specializing in infant feeding disorders that pertain to lactation and breastfeeding. Within therapy, she focuses on functional feeding in relation to breastfeeding dyads, optimal breast and bottle feeding, and successful transition to solids. She volunteers part-time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and has interests in continuing her clinical work within this and the early intervention setting (birth to 5 years of age). 
Although her heart goes out to serving babies and their families. Brenda also shares a love for treating the adult population. Brenda has experience working with veterans at the Memphis Veterans Medical Center, and with stroke and other traumatic brain injury patients at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a partner of Methodist Healthcare. Brenda is a certified dementia practitioner and strives to provide the best care for all your loved ones!
